Absolutely not. You must camp overnight in designated campgrounds, caravan parks, RV Friendly Towns or places where camping is permitted. Please note it is often not safe to simply park your campervan, motorhome or trailer in a public space overnight even in remote areas. Vandalism is known to happen, and you are placing your self in danger by not being in an approved camping area. Additionally, many councils have staff that patrol areas where people are known to try and park overnight to avoid paying camping fees, and fines may apply. You will be asked to move, and leave yourself potentially with nowhere to camp and in a remote location or where there is no caravan park or campground availability as it is a busy time of year. By paying the appropriate fees at National Parks or commercial caravan parks you are helping with the maintenance and upkeep of these important facilities.
