Woods Lake Camping
Camping Woods Lake, popular fishing location Central Highlands Tasmania, close to Miena, Arthurs Lake, Flinstone, Pumphouse Bay, and Wilburville. Basic bush camping, campers must be fully self-sufficient. No water, 1 toilet near the boat ramp. Fires permitted subject to local fire restrictions, dogs OK on leads and kept under control at all times. Woods Lake camping is not suitable to big rigs and large caravans, the road to Woods Lake from Arthurs Lake is narrow, gravel, rough in spots, and very windy as your descend to the lake itself. Woods Lake camping is best suited to campervans, camper trailers, and other smaller, fully self-contained camping. Woods Lake is very rocky, however, there are a couple of options where you can pitch a tent or swag and where you can camp close to the lake and fish from the shore. Woods Lake is open for fishing from the end of August through to the last weekend closest to 30 April. Fish for brown trout from the shore, from a boat, or kayak. You can fish using live bait, artificial lures or toll from a boat. There is an excellent boat launching area and a large car park. There are no fees, no bookings, and a national park pass isn’t required. Please note that snow and heavy rain is common in this area of Tasmania, so if you are planning to camp in a tent take extreme care. A portable chemical toilet is recommended, and you must carry fresh drinking water. See also: Camping Arthurs Lake: Camping Pumphouse Bay: Camping Penstock Lagoon: Camping Fishing Tasmania:
