Camping Boat Harbour
THIS CAMPGROUND HAS NOW CLOSED PERMANENTLY AS AT AUGUST 2019
Free camping Boat Harbour, North West Coast Tasmania suitable caravans, motorhomes only, no tents or campervans dogs OK on leads. Maximum stay 2-nights, no generators. The Boat Harbour free camping area is a stunning location, being right on the beach and featuring azure blue waters, and safe swimming. There are very clean toilets nearby, a barbecue, a children’s playground and a cafe. Please note, the road from the highway into Boat Harbour is very steep and is the only way in and out of Boat Harbour – take care in caravans and larger rigs. Please also note that the Boat Harbour camping area gets very crowded with motorhomes and caravans with people ending up camping in the nearby car park if they can’t get a spot where vehicles generally park. Please be respectful of local residents, to ensure this amazing location is maintained for use free of charge by everyone. There is also a good 3+ hour walk to nearby Sisters Beach at the end of the road past the camping area. Boat Harbour was voted one of Australia’s top 10 beaches; this small seaside town is a 10-min drive from Wynyard or a 30-min drive from Burnie. Unfortunately, unruly behaviour, running grey water onto the beach and people generally behaving badly have called into question the future of the campground, and it is likely to be permanently closed.
